Dr. Richard Sholts
Dr. Richard Sholts is a 1980 graduate of Purdue University. Following graduation, he moved to the northwest suburbs from Indiana and worked at Golf-Rose Animal Hospital, until opening Forest View Animal Hospital in 1984. His philosophy has always been “Patients come First” and to provide the best veterinary care possible at an affordable cost.
Dr. Sholts has been married to his wife Marie for 37 years. They live in Kildeer with their Portuguese water dog, “Palmer.” They have one son and daughter-in-law and two granddaughters.
Dr. Brian Gustaevel
Dr. Brian Gustaevel, or Dr. Gus as he prefers, was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, and then his doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. After graduation, he returned to the Akron area to practice until 2002, when he moved to Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus, he filled the roles of Senior Veterinarian and Head of Surgery and later developed to become Chief of Staff. In 2020, Dr. Gus joined Forest View Animal Hospital as the new Medical Director.
Dr. Gus brings with him extensive experience in pediatrics, preventative care, and soft tissue surgery. He has been using Fear-free techniques for several years. He plans to build upon the great legacy of Dr. Sholts by improving access and advancing quality medical care at Forest View, as well as improving the patient and client experiences. Dr. Gus looks forward to working with new and existing patients and their pet parents.
Dr. Gus lives in Schaumburg, IL with his two chihuahuas, as well as a variety of feathered, scaled, and eight-legged critters. He is a self-described geek, a PC gamer, and a chainmail artisan.
